God created man in His image, gave him everything that He needed to survive, and not only to survive, but to thrive and live forever. However for man that wasn’t good enough, man wanted more. God made the man the head of the family the protector that is what we are wired to be. The problem with that is, man didn’t protect his family he allowed his wife to do something she wasn’t supposed to do.
Genesis 3:6 6When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
Ever since that one decision of Adam not stepping up and saying no Eve the Lord told us not to do this we have been on a slippery slope. As time went the world became a mess, even to the point that The Lord regretted that He made man,
Genesis 6:5-6 5The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. 6The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.
He was ready to wipe us off the face of the earth and be done with it all. However there was a man named Noah that was Righteous in the eyes of the Lord. God saved Noah and his sons and daughter in-laws and his wife and a big chunk of animals The Lord saved them. Fast-forward to a time in Bethlehem the world was a mess once again many things had happened by this time, but this time God will not destroy the world He decides to save the world. He decides to come down from His throne and come in the form of a man to save us and they call Him Jesus Christ,(Emanuelle (God with Us). Jesus began His ministry at about the age of 30 and ministered and healed for people for right around 3 years. The whole time that Jesus is ministering into peoples lives the Religious leaders didn’t like Him because He was messing with their traditions or the way they saw the Law. So they came up with a plan to kill Him. As we look at the night that Jesus was arrested we see a very interesting story unfolding for Peter one of Jesus’ disciples.
As Jesus was arrested He was taken to Ciaphas house he was the head religious leaders, and the trial commenced. However down in the courtyard it was getting very interesting indeed. Peter was down in the courtyard and people were starting to recognize him and start to question him
Luke 22: 55-60
54Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance. 55And when some there had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them. 56A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.”
57But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.
58A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.”
“Man, I am not!” Peter replied.
59About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”
60Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. 61The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” 62And he went outside and wept bitterly.
You have to remember something Peter was always the disciple that swore up and down that he wouldn’t ever deny Jesus Christ. When push came to shove however Peter at this point wasn’t ready and look what it said, it says that the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter, then Peter remembered what the Lord had told him.
Peter denied Jesus, think about this for a moment. This is a man that walked with Jesus sat with Him, ate with Him, was able to see the miracles that Jesus preformed and He still got scared.
Jesus went to the cross willingly and gave up His life so that we didn’t have to. He paid the debt that we owed for our own sinfulness.
Yes Peter got scared and denied Jesus that night in the courtyard but I want you to see something.
John 21:15-19 15When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
Jesus even after Peter denied Him in the courtyard Jesus didn’t throw him away he showed him Grace. He reinstated Peter back He forgave him.
This is what Grace is all about, grace is about forgiving someone even when that person who is being forgiven doesn’t think that they deserve it. Grace isn’t about beating someone up with what they did wrong Grace is about picking someone up and helping them after they have fallen flat on their face and think that they are no good. I have news for you that’s not the way God works. God doesn’t sit there with a huge stick waiting for you to fall down so that He can make you feel worse. When you fall flat on your face God is there with a towel to help us up and dust us off and tell us let’s try again I love you son or daughter. Throughout all of scripture God had many different times that He could have said I’m done and wiped everything out. However when you look at scripture you see totally the opposite you see Him giving us chance after chance after chance. He changed everything for us that day on calvary, It wasn’t the romans that nailed Him to the cross it was our sin that nailed Him to the cross, and He allowed it He willing laid there as they drove those spikes into His hands and feet and He did it for you and for me. He did it so that we didn’t have to, He made us able to be righteous (right standing with God) when we couldn’t. Day in day out He continues to show us Grace to love us enough that when we fall down He’ll pick us back up, dust us off and give us a kiss on the forehead and say I love you know let’s try again. Jesus wants to have a relationship with you He proved that when He allowed Himself to be nailed to the cross, He’s just waiting for you to come to Him. He already did the hard part that was the cross, Scripture says in Acts 16:31 31They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

The Lord gave you the greatest gift when He allowed himself to be nailed to the Cross, all you have to do is receive it. Will you receive it will you ask Jesus into your life.

He’s waiting for you to come to Him.
If that is you right now and you have any questions or if you would like me to help you in anyway that I can please get hold of me and I will answer any questions that you have. If you want me to pray with you or for you I will most certainly do that for you. Just know that I’m praying for you. Thanks for joining us today, may the Lord bless you and keep.
Amen
