In our world we have been told what to do, what to look like, what makes us important.  As we go through life, each of us struggle with all of these things and maybe more.  We are constantly and sometimes frantically searching for the next great thing.  There’s always the next thing that’s going to make us feel better, or make us feel important.  There are things that we see and hear about everyday…there is just no way for us to escape it.  It’s all around us…we are told that if you buy this product you’ll be beautiful, or if you send “me a certain amount of money than I can guarantee your happiness.”  This is a real problem that we face because we don’t truly know who we are.  The hard part about all of this is very difficult to understand, because we have been hammered by it for so long that it has just become our new normal.

When anyone tells us anything different than we’ve been told by the world, we get downright mad and offended because we have based our truth in the world on a sand castle.  It simply means what we are told is important, really has no foundation.  It’s like a sand castle and with the slightest touch, you crumble into dust.  This is what happens when we put our life in the hands of the world.  You are told that you don’t need anyone and that you can do everything on your own. There is a big issue with this…you have no foundation on which to build your life.  When the slightest problem comes around, it feels like everything comes falling down around you (the sand castle).

What if it didn’t have to be that way though?  What if you had a way to build your life on a solid foundation?  Do you see many houses built on basements of sand?  All your homes that are built, are built on a concrete foundation of some kind because that means they will hold up to the rigors of the enviroment.  Even homes that are built on the beach or near water have some form of foundation underneath them, even if it’s the fact that the posts are set in concrete.  The good news is, there’s a way to be able to have this solid foundation.  In Matthew, Jesus Christ tells us how to have this.

Matthew 7:24-29 (NET1)
24  “Everyone who hears  these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.   25  The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, but it  did not collapse because it had been founded on rock.  26  Everyone who hears these words of mine and does  not do them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.   27  The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat  against that house, and it collapsed; it was utterly destroyed!”   28  When Jesus finished saying these things, the crowds were  amazed by his teaching,  29  because he  taught them like one who had authority, not like their experts in the law.

Having this kind of a foundation in our lives is very simple.  We trust the Lord Jesus Christ and what He tells us.  This, however, goes back to what we talked about earlier.  Anytime you go against what the world tells you, it’s going to be difficult.  There’s no other way to put it.  Jesus Christ will show you the door but you are the one who has to make the choice to walk through it.  He won’t force you to.  He’ll leave it totally up to you.  It’s never easy to have to confront the fact that you have been misled, but that’s exactly what Jesus Christ does for us.  He shows us our sinful nature, but He also shows us the way out, and that’s with the sacrifice He gave for us when He willingly gave His life for you and for me.  We’re all wrong and we are all saved the same way and that’s through the saving Grace and blood of Jesus Christ.  He’s looking for you and He’s not going to stop until He finds you.  You can have that solid foundation in your life, just admit you’ve been wrong and ask Jesus Christ to forgive you and to take over your life and you will be saved.

So what will you do? Will you ask Him?  He’s waiting for you. He loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.
